The cube-like shape of this house was given by an existing unfinished building on a site near the water. The completely minimalist treatment of the cube was encouraged by an owner who wanted the house to be a getaway from the busyness of her life in the city. Running a company that makes natural yarns in wonderful colors, her work week is packed with business and design decisions. In contrast, this house offers large quiet spaces, clean details, natural materials, and subdued colors. Food and belongings are stored behind doors. Radiant heat is hidden. A few balls of yarn and a laptop computer are all she needs to stay in touch with the outside world.
