“We hired Anne Callender as the architect for our remodel of the Wolf Cove Inn in Poland, Maine. We walked through our thoughts on desired changes, but also asked Anne to think “outside the box” of what we described. We eventually selected one of her “outside the box” ideas and couldn’t be happier with the result. Anne stuck with us along the way through the design, permitting and demolition process until we had a complete set of drawings that satisfied our needs, as well as those of our tradesman and the regulatory authorities. The quality of her work and support were outstanding.”

I wanted to personally thank you (John Whipple) for all of your efforts to create the new Wheeler Library and Chase Academic Wing. Your design blends with the tradition of the Hyde estate and yet makes a contemporary statement as well. I am amazed as I step back and consider what we have accomplished together over the last several years. We have transformed this campus! Job well done! I look forward to the future use of these facilities. Thank you again for helping us achieve this.

In 2005 we contracted with Whipple-Callender Architects to design Condominium buildings for our development project in Rangeley, Maine. Since Rangeley is in the western mountains area of Maine, and not an area where condominiums are on every corner, we had some challenges to design buildings that would fit in with the surroundings, complement the lakes and mountains atmosphere, appeal to prospective buyers and be affordable to build. The team of professionals at Whipple-Callender hit a home run with all of those requirements. The buildings are perfect for our area and the owners are thrilled to say the least. Joe was extremely easy to work with, designed a beautiful building, understood the challenges and was responsive to time schedules, changes and construction issues throughout the process. We would highly recommend Joe Delaney and Whipple-Callender to anyone who would contemplate designing and building a new home or development project.

Portland architect Anne Callender came to our rescue. She designed a roof pitch, side porch, and square bay window that resembled other Munjoy Hill homes. Anne was patient. Anne was calm. She supplied the requisite set of seven drawings produced to the exacting standards of the City of Portland. We hashed out glitches during “wine time” at the Blue Spoon. I’m now convinced that some of the world’s great architecture happens on cocktail napkins.
